ICE Custody After Weld Release

An immigration custody check starts with custody type. If the person was booked into Weld County Jail, the sheriff's Daily Inmate Released Report may show a local release or transport event. That report confirms the end of Weld jail custody for that booking. It does not prove whether ICE later held the person, where immigration custody occurred, or whether immigration custody ended. ICE's Online Detainee Locator System is the route for the federal immigration-custody status.

USA.gov explains that the ICE locator can be searched by A-number or by biographical information such as name, country of birth, and birth date. The locator is for people in ICE custody and for people in CBP custody for more than 48 hours. It is not designed as a broad archive of every past immigration release. If a Weld jail record says transport or hold, use the receiving-agency clue before choosing ODLS, BOP, CDOC, or court records.

Confirm ICE Detainee Status

Use ICE ODLS when a jail release, court file, family information, or agency contact indicates immigration custody. Search by A-number if available. It is the best identifier. If the A-number is not known, search by name, country of birth, and date of birth. Compare results carefully because name spelling, birth-date format, aliases, and transliteration can affect the search.

1. Open ICE Online Detainee Locator System.
2. Search by A-number when available.
3. Use name, country of birth, and date of birth if no A-number is known.
4. If a result appears, read the current detention location and listed contact path.
5. If no result appears, check whether the person is in county, state, BOP, court, or recent CBP custody outside the locator's useful window.

The manifest did not produce a successful direct ICE ODLS screenshot, but it captured a matching USA.gov source. Use USA.gov's ICE detainee locator instructions to confirm the locator's search paths and limits.

ICE Records and Weld Contacts

ICE ODLS is a federal locator. Weld County agencies do not control its results. If a person was first booked into Weld County Jail, use Weld sheriff records to document the local release or transport. If the person appears in ICE custody, follow the facility or contact route shown by ODLS. If the person does not appear, do not assume a Weld release never happened; check the county release report and court records separately.

U.S. Marshals custody can also appear in federal custody history, but it is not the same as ICE custody. The U.S. Marshals District of Colorado and custody pages were part of the research set, while ICE ODLS remains the specific immigration locator.

About ICE ODLS

ICE ODLS is built for locating detainees in immigration custody. It does not show every immigration record, every release, or every court outcome. It may not display someone who has just moved, someone outside the locator's coverage, someone released from ICE, or someone whose information does not match the search fields. Use it as one route in a chain, not as the whole answer.

Weld County has a special local immigration context because Denver7 reported on July 13, 2026 that GEO Group announced a five-year ICE contract for the former Big Horn Correctional Facility in Hudson. That reported development does not make the sheriff release report an ICE release source. If the Hudson site is operational in a future lookup, ICE ODLS and official ICE/facility contacts would be the route.

A-number

An immigration identifier that is usually the strongest ODLS search key.

A request or hold-related immigration custody issue that may follow local custody.

Movement from one custodian or facility to another.

ICE and Weld Caveats

A Weld County release report can show when local jail custody ended. It may not say what happened inside ICE custody after a transfer. If a person appears in ODLS, use that result for immigration custody status and location. If the person has a criminal case, use the court record for disposition. If the person has a federal sentence, use BOP. If the person has a Colorado prison sentence, use CDOC.

The former Big Horn/Hudson issue is current and should be handled carefully. As of the research date, it was reported by Denver7 as a GEO Group announcement and local-government statement, not as a sheriff-operated release source. ICE facility lists and official federal pages should be checked before stating that a particular person is held there.

ICE Weld Record Chain

An ICE record chain begins with the local custody event only if the person was booked into Weld County Jail. Search the Daily Inmate Released Report for release date, booking number, and release clearance. If the entry or another source suggests immigration custody, move to ICE ODLS. If ODLS finds a current detainee record, use the facility information and official ICE contact path shown there. If ODLS does not find a result, check spelling, A-number accuracy, country of birth, and whether the person is in a non-ICE system.

Immigration custody should also be separated from federal prison custody. BOP handles federal criminal sentences. ICE handles immigration detention. U.S. Marshals custody can involve federal transport or pretrial detention, but it is not the same as ICE detention. A Weld County release or transport entry may be the first clue, but the receiving system's record controls the next step.
